Labor cost by hour
A 24-hour view of labor cost with the peak and off-peak hours marked.
Upload once per period
Export sales from your POS as Excel or CSV and upload the file. TimelyHours credits each line to the right associate, and when a name in the file doesn't match, you fix it once and it's remembered next time.
- .xlsx, .xls, and .csv exports
- Category detail for each associate
- Every file listed in Uploads history
Square without uploads
Stores on Square connect their account in Store settings. The last 60 days import right away, and from then on each payment arrives within seconds. The UPS Store centers keep uploading MPOS reports.
- Net sales, with tax and tips left out
- Square team members linked to your associates
- Disconnect any time; synced sales stay in reports
See who sells, and when you're overstaffed
The leaderboard ranks associates by sales per hour, revenue, and items sold. Hourly Labor Costs shows where in the day labor runs highest, and Performance puts sales, wages, and hours side by side for the period.
- Leaderboard by sales per hour, revenue, and items
- Labor as a share of sales for the period
- Sales bonus rules use the same numbers
Why hours alone don't tell you if you were overstaffed
A timesheet tells you how many hours you paid for. It can't tell you whether those hours were needed. A 30-hour Saturday might have been exactly right or badly overstaffed, and the hours look the same either way.
Sales are the missing half. Put them next to the hours and the question answers itself: labor as a share of sales for the period, sales per labor hour for each person, and the hours of the day where labor costs the most.
That turns scheduling from habit into evidence. Next week can follow the hours that actually brought in sales, not the ones that always had three people on.
Guides on sales and labor cost
Calculate labor cost percentage by uploading your POS sales
Hours alone will not tell you whether you were overstaffed. Pair clocks with sales and the story finishes itself.
Design an employee incentive program that people believe in
Hand-calculated bonuses get forgotten, and a forgotten bonus is worse than no bonus. Rules turn good work into a column you can actually pay.
Set up bonus rules and pay-period timing so payouts land correctly
Wrong timing or the wrong rule type is why a bonus "does not show." Align the rule with how your pay period actually runs.
Scheduling software for The UPS Store franchisees
Scheduling, clock-in, and payroll reporting built around how a shipping center actually staffs, with MPOS sales uploads and unlimited employees for $20 a month.
Frequently asked questions
- Which POS systems work with TimelyHours?
- Any POS that exports sales to Excel (.xlsx, .xls) or CSV, including MPOS at The UPS Store centers. Stores on Square can connect it directly instead of uploading.
- Do I need an integration?
- No. Uploads work without any setup. Connecting Square is optional, and you do it from Store settings in a few steps.
- How are Square sales counted?
- As net sales: line items minus discounts. Tax, tips, and gift card loads are left out, refunds are removed, and each sale is credited to the team member who took the payment.
- Can bonuses be based on sales?
- Yes. Sales bonus rules use the same numbers, so a sales goal or a per-item bonus lands on the payroll report as its own column.
- Who can see sales reports?
- Owners, and managers you give the reports permission. Associates can follow their own bonus progress in Rewards when you turn it on.
